There were more than 96,500 residential and commercial land and property sales in England and Wales in March 2017, up from about 84,200 transactions the previous month, the latest Price Paid Data from the Land Registry shows.
The figures reveal that there were 67,893 freehold properties, along with 14,849 new build properties logged for registration.
In terms of property type, 24,779 of the properties put forward for registration were terraced, 22,796 were semi-detached, 20,569 detached, 21,160 flats/maisonettes, while there were also 7,261 ‘other’ property types
In total, 33,024 sales took place across England and Wales in March, including 510 homes that were acquired for £1 million-plus.
The most expensive residential sale in March 2017 was of a terraced property in the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea for £11.25 million.
The cheapest residential sales in March 2017 were a terraced property in Blyth, Northumberland, and a flat in Weymouth, Dorset, each for £10,000
The most expensive commercial sale in March 2017 was in Bristol for just over £58.88 million, while the cheapest commercial sales were in Lancing, Woking, Corby, Chesterfield, Benfleet and the London Borough of Waltham Forest each for £100.
